ASHTANGA YOGA mit Sanjay
Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style
Ashtanga Yoga or Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as it is taught today is based on an ancient system of Yoga that was taught by Vamana Rishi. Eventually it was passed down to Sri Pattabhi Jois of Mysuru (Mysore), India. Since the system as we practice today originated in Mysore, the self-guided practice is called "Mysore style" as opposed to the guided group class called a "Led" class.
Sanjay will teach Traditional Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore style with emphasis on breath, bandha, drishti (gazing point) and vinyasa, and with individual attention in a small group setting. This helps the student to focus the mind inward and get the mind one-pointed which is required to meditate properly. This is the best way to learn the method.
In addition, Sanjay will address the spiritual and philosophical aspects of the practice as well so the focus will not just be on the physical/therapeutic asana practice alone.
The asanas (postures) follow a set sequence of 30 asanas
(primary series) and 14 finishing asanas. However, in the beginning, each student will only practice a few asanas until they are ready
for the next asana and so on.
* Classes will be taught in English/Sanskrit (Asana names,
Vinyasa counting and chanting in Sanskrit)
* Students should bring a yoga mat and a towel.
* Please do not eat 3-4 hours before class and refrain from
drinking anything during and immediately before or
* For more details about the practice and guidelines,
please contact Sanjay before signing up for the classes.
